After winning the pivotal game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning, The Boston Bruins advanced to the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals looking to claim a championship since 1972.
With the Vancouver Canucks winning the first two games of the final series, the Boston Bruins are now two losses away from being eliminated from the playoffs and most importantly, being denied of winning the 2011 Stanley Cup trophy.
With the series 2-0 in favor of the Canucks, It’s apparent that the Bruins are now in desperation mode and greatly needs a victory at home in Game 3 on Monday, 6/6. Boston will need to know where Canuck’s left wing Alexandre Burrows and the Sedin twins are at all times in order to win any game. Burrows has already scored a total of nine goals in the playoffs, none more important than his game-winning goal in overtime in Game 2.
Alexandre Burrows has been a thorn in the side of the Bruins so far in the finals. Boston will need to contain the Canuck’s star winger in order to have a chance to once again make this a competitive series. The Bruins will also need to be physical throughout the game. Bruins’ stars, such as Zdeno Chara, Milan Lucic, Patrice Bergeron and Tim Thomas will need to elevate each of their game for the B’s to have a chance.
On Monday, the Bruins will host the Canucks at home in TD Garden for Game 3. Bruins coach Claude Julien should have the Boston players’ energized and ready to play. It’s always tough to win on the road so the Canucks will definitely have their hands full in Game 3.
What an exciting game it will be on Monday night. Hockey fans will see then if the B’s still have what it takes to come back and prove to the world that Boston was meant to be in the Stanley Cup finals.
