Tiger Woods has not played golf since the Players Championship back in May. Due to unfortunate knee and Achilles injuries, Woods was forced to leave the game of golf indefinitely until his body was once again back to normal.
Ever since Tiger Woods’ sex scandal happened in 2009, there were not many endorsements coming his way. Companies, such as AT&T, Electronic Arts Inc., and not to mention Nike, had all declined to do business with the superstar golfer. Tiger Woods was the perfect example of a popular athlete who had absolutely everything imaginable and had lost everything he represented due to one mistake committed.
The golfer who at one time had a total of 14 professional major golf championships was slaughtered by the media, which ultimately led to Woods’ downfall in terms of public popularity.
Recently, Wood’s reputation took a major step in a positive direction. A Japanese company, known as Kowa Company Ltd, has chosen Tiger Woods to be the sports icon behind a Japanese-based heat rub, primarily used to relieve pain for muscles and joints.
Woods has already been included in various commercials for the brand and looks to promote the product all throughout Japan. The terms of the deal supposedly is a 3-year contract that would include television and ads for the heat rub.
While this endorsement in any way does not compare to Woods’ previous agreements with other businesses, it certainly is a positive, especially because most companies turned their back on Tiger Woods after the golfer’s sex scandal.
It’s not the most luxurious contract, but we’re pretty sure Tiger Woods is well aware of the situation. When all is set and done, anything is better than nothing at all.
