Due to the overwhelming recession that the financial markets had endured, have you ever wondered which teams benefited the most and which organizations barely survived?

Due to the backlash of the financial sector, in addition to the outcome resulted from the Madoff Ponzi scheme, it’s not surprising that there would be some teams in dire need of financial assistance.

Two of the teams currently in trouble are the Los Angeles Dodgers and The New York Mets. So much news has surfaced regarding the Los Angeles Dodgers owned by the notorious Frank McCourt, who is currently going through a whirlwind of legal and financial troubles with his wife and the league. On the other side of the coast, the New York Mets, owned by Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, are trying to pick up the pieces. Luckily, their network TV channel, SNY, has provided a great deal of assistance saving the franchise from hitting rock bottom. The NY Mets are currently searching for new investors to assist with the organization’s debt worth over $400 million.

Despite all the troublesome factors, a few teams were able to take advantage and counter effectively by continuing to be profitable within the league. The New York Yankees stand tall over all the organizations as they have managed to rise even higher in team worth given the circumstances. Another organization worth mentioning would be the surprising Florida Marlins. The team’s old reputation of being one of the lowest payroll franchises is slowly becoming an upstart. The Marlins will be heading into a new stadium in 2012, which is guaranteed to also help the organization flourish in the future.

Every team will have its highs and lows. It’s the organizations that bounce back from these lows that are able to keep moving and produce at a high level. According to Forbes, below are the top 20 most valuable franchises in the Major Leagues.
