Could this finally be the year for the Texas Rangers?
After losing to the San Francisco Giants in the World Series last season, the Texas Rangers are hungrier than ever. Against the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS, the Rangers scored a total of 39 runs throughout 6 games (6.5 runs per game), 15 of which came in Game 6 when the Rangers posted a 9 run rally in the 3rd inning. The large deficit had overwhelmed the Detroit Tigers and it was just enough to advance the Texas Rangers to their second World Series in two straight years.
With the Texas victory, a new legend was born in the ALCS. Nelson Cruz, the Rangers right fielder had a great championship series, ultimately awarding the outfielder with MVP honors. Cruz batted .364 [8-22] to go along with 6 homeruns and 13 RBIs. This goes to show how deep the Rangers batting lineup is. With Cruz batting seventh in the order, it’s very difficult for opposing pitchers to game plan and choose the batter they’d want to go after. There are no easy outs in the Rangers lineup.
Ian Kinsler, second baseman for the Texas Rangers, was extremely excited over the series win.
“It’s incredible … this is incredible,” second baseman Ian Kinsler said. “This was a huge series and a huge win. We defended our title and couldn’t be in a better spot. It’s the ultimate goal of our sport and now we have another chance at it.”
Indeed the Rangers have another shot, this time in hopes to win its first World Series championship in franchise history.
The Texas Rangers are currently awaiting the winner of the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers’ series in the National League Division. The Cardinals hold a 3-2 lead over the Brewers heading into Game 6 of the NLCS.
For all baseball fanatics, Game 6 will be played at Milwaukee and showed on TBS at 8:05 Eastern Time. The game was initially scheduled for 4:05 PM, however due to the Rangers already clinching in the American League, Game 6 of the NLCS will now be moved up to primetime.
Hold on to your seats, there will be some definite fireworks.
