According to Dallas Morning News and reporter Eddie Sefko, Jason Terry was forced to leave practice today due to a contagious illness. Terry was carried out of American Airlines Center [Dallas Mavericks Arena] and was sent to the team doctors for further examination.
Jason Terry is said to have a stomach virus, which makes it unlikely that the “Jet” will be available for Tuesday’s preseason game against the Oklahoma Thunder.
The NBA 2011-12 regular season is right around the corner. The Mavericks medical staff is working diligently to try to get the “Jet” re-fueled and ready for the team’s first regular season game against the Miami Heat.
This early-season virus seems to not want to leave the Dallas Mavericks’ locker room. According to numerous sources, Mavericks players, such as Brian Cardinal and Brandan Wright have also been sick and were both forced to miss preseason games.
The Dallas Mavericks will definitely need all of its players in order to match up with the “Big Three” of the Miami Heat. I know it’s still early, but beating Miami in the first game of the season would be a huge boost to the players.
A victory against the Heat would certainly also confirm that the Mavericks championship a year ago was not a fluke. One thing is for certain, if the Mavericks are going to have a shot at winning this ballgame, Jason Terry will need to suit up and participate.
The Mavericks are scheduled to play the Miami Heat [ABC] at home on Christmas Day at 2:30 PM Eastern Time.
