In preparation for the next upcoming presidential election, President Obama has been meeting with people all around the United States discussing all his goals and aspirations for our economy.
On Monday, the United States’ first African American president had visited Boston working for votes for this year’s 2012 presidential candidacy.
For the most part, the audience was enlightened by what President Obama had to say. That all changed when the leader of our country mentioned the Kevin Youkilis trade that sent the infielder from the Boston Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox.
To be clear, President Obama has always been a die-hard Chicago fan and loves to “talk” sports whenever he could — just not sure this particular time was the right decision.
Immediately, the crowd responded by “Booo-ing” the president or better yet, was it simply just “Youuuk-ing” at him? This was something that the Boston fans were used to screaming when “Yooouk” used to play for the Red Sox.
You be the judge.

Whoops! There go a few more votes.
It’s not often that you hear a President losing votes due to sports. The world of sports is a powerful thing I tell ya’.
Barack Obama needs to get his a#s in gear and deal with the country’s issues rather than regaling us with either sport’s anecdotes or his likes and dislikes with regard to that area at present. Unless he’s forgotten he and the Congress haven’t done a god-damn thing since he took office. He may well have assisted the auto industry and helped the so called “fat cat bankers”. But where’s the legislation to rein in those miscreants on Wall St? How god damn naive is Obama to begin with?
I think for our current President, the moral lesson has been learned. While sports can always be made to be a great “ice-breaker,” it shouldn’t be used as a tool for a presidential campaign. It’s unfortunate that President Barack Obama had to learn this the hard way.
I saw this on the news the other morning and thought it was not a big deal. The reaction can be spun any which way, but if I was a Boston fan and in the crowd I would have booed the President too… but only in jest.
Fair opinion Jed and well received. I actually enjoyed President Obama’s humor, however I can understand why this may cause an uproar. With our economy continuing to spiral, the last thing people want to hear is sports.
Oh, they were booing alright. Pretty sad when you get booed at your own rally. He said it best at the end…ya gotta know your crowd. But why on Earth “go there” in the first place?
Exactly my point Bruce, Why??? It goes to show that even President Barack Obama makes silly mistakes. Lesson learned, it’s time to move on.
