Deron Williams: Brooklyn Nets Get Their “Guy” Back

By CDR

Another big fish in the NBA free agency market has just been reeled in. Deron Williams, who played point guard to the once-known New Jersey Nets last season, will now be joining his old team for another ride.

Via Twitter, Deron Williams has finally committed to the Brooklyn Nets signing a five-year contract worth $100 million dollars.

The Deron Williams acquisition places the Nets immediately as one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. Throughout the seven years he has played in the NBA, “D-Will” has averaged 17.6 points and an outstanding assist average of 9.2 per game. With the Nets also landing Hawks All-star shooting guard Joe Johnson, sky’s the limit for the team in Brooklyn.

$95 million can make you do strange things like “tweeting”… “I made a really tough decision today.” For $95 million I’d: “nail” Bristol Palin if really pressed into doing so!

  2. The only question that remains is whether they can now land the BIG guy.

It’s sounding more and more like it’s going to happen, huh?

In all honesty, I really thought that as well. However, with so many turns in this year’s free agency, I am beginning to think Dwight Howard will join the Lakers. Steve Nash just signed to L.A. Dwight could certainly be next!

  3. I was a bit shocked he stayed on with them. I guess in the end, money won out. Or, he knows something about their future roster we don’t… yet.

Thanks for the comment Bruce! You certainly had a reason to believe what you thought. Deron Williams was very close to signing with the Mavs, but once the Joe Johnson deal came about, it suddenly changed everything. Of course, the money talked too.
