Once Deron Williams was snatched away by the Brooklyn Nets from free agency, the next sought out point guard was no one other than Phoenix Suns, Steve Nash.

For weeks, the Toronto Raptors were aggressively pursuing Steve Nash ready to pull out the armored money truck for the 38-year-old floor general. The Raptors were convinced that the two-time MVP [Nash] would join Toronto in order to be closer to his family and kids.

Apparently, being born in Toronto and having a huge fan base just wasn’t enough of a selling advantage. There was still one important goal that Steve Nash needed to accomplish, winning a NBA championship.

With that in mind, Steve Nash and his agent [Bill Duffy] agreed to officially sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. The contract details consist of a three-year deal worth $27 million dollars.

In return, the Phoenix Suns will receive two first round picks in 2013 and 2015, two second round picks in 2013 and 2014, in addition to $3 million dollars.

The Lakers are still very much in the hunt for Orlando Magic star center, Dwight Howard. The way this year’s free agency has been shaping out, we could easily have another “Big Three” in Los Angeles [Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard].

  1. Lamar Odom’s wife Khloe Kardashian was heard to say … “why wasn’t that my man?”

If Eric Bledsoe is worth 4 years $58 million, then you know that the NBA is going to hell in a hand basket. WTF!

    • CDR says:

LMAO @Khloe Kardashian. Wow, didn’t hear about Eric Bledsoe! If this is true, this could be another one of them awful signings like when the New Jersey Nets signed Travis Outlaw to a huge contract, only to be amnestied by the team.

  2. I was thrilled to hear this news. Great for Nash. Great for the Lakers’ franchise and fans. A year ago I felt the Lakers was the only place Dwight Howard could possibly be happy. As unpredictable Howard has been about his wants, this may now tip the scales to L.A. if a deal can be done.

    • CDR says:

A possible “Big Three” in Los Angeles? Wow, if it happens, both the Clippers and the Lakers will have great teams. In terms of Nash, what a classy guy huh?

  3. I’ll drink the Kool-Aid on this one, man.

With Nash, they’re getting an insanely talented point guard who’s going to stay out of trouble and commit himself to winning.

Sure, he may be 38 but I can easily see him fitting right in. His health in the second season will be the key to a deep run.

    • CDR says:

I think any team Nash would’ve went to would’ve insanely enhanced that team’s roster, that’s just how good of a point guard he is. I could see Kobe Bryant licking his chops right now ready to go for that elusive 6th ring.

  4. J-Dub says:

Why not make the Lakers the “Last Chance Saloon” for aging NBA players wanting a ring? First Nash and Kobe, why not add Paul Pierce and/or Ray Allen? Dallas isn’t going anywhere soon, why not pick up Dirk Nowitzki? What would it take to get Tim Duncan from San Antonio? Let the Lakers get every guy over thirty they can…

    • CDR says:

Funny JW! It seems like every team nowadays is trying to build their own “Big Three.” It just happens to be the new trend these days. Once the Miami Heat won, it proved to all players that it’s possible to win a championship this way. As for Nash, he doesn’t have many years left… he wants one and he doesn’t care how he gets it.
