For the past year, prior to the London Olympic games, Ryan Lochte had been deemed by many to be the United States’ most consistent overall swimmer. Yes, even in front of famously known gold medalist, Michael Phelps.
There were rumors leading up to the Olympics that Phelps wasn’t in the best shape for London and that his work ethic wasn’t at the highest level. Well, during the 400-meter individual medley, Ryan Lochte proved his worth. Lochte managed to win the gold medal in the event, while Michael Phelps struggled and finished in fourth place.
During the medal ceremony, Ryan Lochte celebrated his achievement by showing the whole world his “iced-out” mouth grill that embodied the United States’ shining stars and stripes.
Michael Phelps better step it up, Ryan Lochte looks to sport his American mouth grill a few more times before the Olympic games are over.

That’s a pretty cool grill. Did you see that the Olympic committee told him he couldn’t wear it until after the national anthem was played!?!
Yes, we did hear about that. The Olympic committee wanted to make sure that Lochte didn’t show up the other countries. Speaking of showing up, Lochte certainly didn’t do so in the 400 mens relay. Ahh, the U.S. was so close!
