A total of seven Cameroonian Olympic athletes are suddenly missing from the Olympic village in London.

Reports state that the seven Cameroonians, five boxers, one swimmer, and a soccer player were scheduled to fly back to Cameroon on Sunday, but have unexpectedly disappeared from everyone’s sights.

Many have pinpointed the athletes’ sudden disappearance as an act to seek asylum in Britain. However, according to the Press Association, it was said that the athletes currently have passports that would allow the seven individuals to be able to stay in London until November.

In all honesty, it’s actually a bit surprising that we don’t hear situations, such as this happening more often.

Face it; many of these athletes come from a difficult living environment with hardly any money. These Olympians also have very little support when it comes to their careers. Many of these athletes wish for the same thing; to be able to live life the right way, in addition to being recognized for their God-given talents.

It appears that Cameroonian athletes are no strangers when it comes to disappearing during sporting events. In Australia, a few Cameroonian players had escaped the Commonwealth Games back in 2006. Some even ran away from various soccer competitions, and now again during the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Yes, it’s a bad decision, but can you actually blame them?

  1. Jeremy Wiebe says:

Don’t blame them actually. If they think Great Britain will be better for their lives, than they should go for it. When I first heard this story, I thought of Munich 1972. Thankfully, those fears were put to rest.

Thanks for the comment Jeremy! It’s difficult to blame people who want to change their lives for the better. It’s unfortunate they had to make this decision, but it needed to be done.

Many of these athletes are simply seeking out a better life rather than returning to their native land. It would not surprise me if that were the case concerning these athletes from the Cameroon. Will drop you an e-mail on a subject somewhat similar to this. Critique the piece and let me know what you think?

So the NFL may well go into the regular season with replacement officials? How nice of Goodell to make the season all the more interesting, considering his intransigence in dealing with the NFLRA (union). Hope is there however as for the first time we will have a female roaming the sidelines as a game time official during the preseason . Unfortunately she won’t be scantily clad with the looks of Heidi Klum! What a damn shame ! LOL,LOL,LOL!!! Knowing the fans’ luck, this female could very well be uglier than Roseanne Barr. Now that’s an ungodly sight.

We completely agree Alan. Sometimes people have to make the worst decisions in order to put themselves in better places. In terms of the NFL, thanks for informing us about the female referee, however kind of “bummed” that she will not be looking anywhere near the likes of Heidi Klum. We know one thing… that referee probably looks a wrestler. Thanks for the email. Will definitely provide our insight when we get the chance.

We may well be concerned about these athletes but I feel that the IOC at times has to take a political stance! Hell, you have the Syrian President Bashir al Assad slaughtering his populace like sheep. But yet the Syrian delegation of athletes at the Olympics are welcomed with open arms. How is that possible?

IOC President Jacques Rogge tries to stay off topic when its social awareness and issues of strife. But given the fact the IOC is one of the most corrupt organizations out there alongside FIFA and the UN!

    • CDR says:

The IOC needs to really focus and strengthen the regulations. From this situation to athletes using enhancement drugs to even athletes conducting themselves in the right manner, the IOC needs to look deeper into controlling the Olympic events from different angles.

  3. Maybe they’re in Hope Solo’s vagina.

Dang Chris, you had to go there…. hehe

Chris loves to bang one out now again . His vow of celibacy didn’t last long.

So at what point did it occur to the Mets that they were involved in a game last night against the Mets? Was it once the score reached 10-0? Wow!

      tophatal …………

    • CDR says:

As sad as it hurts for us Mets fans, the game actually went to 13-0, literally blanked the Mets. It’s alright though, Mets’ Dickey saved the day once again.

    • tophatal says:

should read Marlins ….. second line. Two sorry teams deserving of their present fates! Collins and Guillen are overrated as managers!

    • CDR says:

We kind of disagree with your Collins’ statement Alan. The Mets in paper do not have a great roster, yet Collins has managed to get the team to play well enough to win. That deserves some credit no? The Mets had a difficult time getting off after the break, but if the Mets could seriously break even by the time the season ends, we would consider that as a positive sign.
