Weed shops on the west coast are making headlines today. There’s new marijuana in town and it’s being called “Usain Bolt OG.” The weed is being named after none other than Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt for its “quick-hitting” effects on people.
So who wants to feel that jolt of energy? The “Usain Bolt OG” is guaranteed to have you breaking records. When it comes to marketing tactics, you can’t deny the fact that the weed shops have this one all covered.
Where did all this media attention come from?
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has been simply electrifying in the 2012 Olympics. The “lightning bolt” as many like to call him has etched himself closer and closer to being one of the most dynamic runners in Olympic history.
This past Sunday, Usain Bolt had won the 100-meters in Olympic record-breaking fashion [9.63 seconds]. It’s the second fastest time in history. Bolt would join USA’s Carl Lewis as the only two men to ever win back-to-back gold medals in the 100-meter dash.

Isn’t weed supposed to have the opposite effect? LOL! I’m surprised an energy drink hasn’t been created in Usain Bolt’s name.
Don’t give these marketers another idea Jeremy! We could see Usain Bolt having an energy drink too. Stores could call it the “Lightning Bolt.”
I bet you…. wait for it…. Michael Phelps has his own strain too.
Thank you. I’ll be here all week.
If Phelps doesn’t have one, he should. Weed shops are starting to take advantage of this marketing tool… it’s not a bad idea if your in the business.
I’m not sure that this is accomplishing what it was medically intended for.
You’re right on that one Jed. It’s becoming more of a publicity thing more than anything else. Hey, but it’s working.
