According to ESPN via Chris Mortensen, ex-Bengals’ running back Cedric Benson is currently visiting the Green Bay Packers and is expected to sign with the team very soon.
After last season, Cincinnati decided to go in a different direction and that was to sign free agent running back and ex-Patriot BenJarvus Green-Ellis. The Bengals made the move in hopes to acquire a younger and more physical running back with the potential of being explosive on the field.
Green Bay on the other hand is currently having problems at the running back position. Rather than re-signing veteran Ryan Grant, the Packers now have different ideas. One of them is signing free agent Cedric Benson.
In comparison to Grant, Benson has been the more consistent and productive running back rushing for more than 1,000 yards in each of the past three seasons with the Bengals. Young Packers’ running back James Starks has not played well recently. This could be the perfect fit for Benson. Not only will he be able to start over Starks, most importantly, he would be playing with the Green Bay Packers.
Nothing gets better than that.

I liked Benson in Cincinnati. Thought he was a good back. The Packers are clearly trying to make the Bears look bad. After all, it was Chicago that drafted Benson in the first round.
We liked Benson in Cincy as well, but him in a Packers uniform… that would be a good thing for him. Benson, although 29-years-old, hasn’t lost a step in the last three years. If he could muster a couple of seasons with the same productivity, he might just be able to get himself a ring.
