Aside from the Giants/Cowboys game that was played on Wednesday night, the Packers/49ers showdown is by far the most intriguing game of Week 1.
Both teams are first-class in terms of the amount of talent on each side. The Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers both went to the playoffs last year and are looking to repeat that same success this season.
So what’s all this “talk” about Aaron Rodgers wearing a 49ers jersey?
Well, it all started when Packers QB Aaron Rodgers made a deal with one of the members [Nathan Morris] from the singing group “Boyz II Men.” Rodgers had asked the group to sing the National Anthem for the Packers’ first game of the season in Lambeau Field. Boyz II Men, who happen to also be friends with Aaron Rodgers agreed based on ONE condition.
• If San Francisco wins the game on Sunday, Aaron Rodgers would have to wear an Alex Smith 49ers jersey for the rest of the week.
• If the Packers pull out the victory, then die-hard 49ers fan Nathan Morris from Boyz II Men will have to wear an Aaron Rodgers jersey for the same period of time.
Both sides had apparently agreed to the terms, which locks up the deal for Sunday.
Aaron Rodgers has more to lose if you ask us. Not only does Rodgers have to wear an opponent’s jersey who happen to be a NFC rival, he has to also wear an Alex Smith jersey, the quarterback who got drafted first overall in front of him in the 2005 NFL Draft.
We would imagine that’s like asking Tom Brady to wear a Mark Sanchez Jets’ jersey. Now, that’s painful.
