The Minnesota Timberwolves have to be scratching their heads right about now. During this morning’s shoot-around, T-Wolves’ All-Star center Kevin Love had broken his right hand.

The freak accident occurred during Love’s mini-workout, something the Timberwolves’ center had been doing prior to team practices. Due to the injury, Kevin Love will be sidelined for approximately six to eight weeks and will most likely miss the first month of this upcoming NBA 2012-13 season.

Not only will the Timberwolves be forced to begin their year without Kevin Love, the team will also have to play without their top-flight point guard in Ricky Rubio due to a torn ACL. Rubio is rumored to be out for at least six weeks.

The Minnesota Timberwolves had an overall record of 26-40 last season. The team was fifth in their division and 12th in the Western Conference.

When it rains, it pours.

  1. Jeremy Wiebe says:

The Timberwolves are cursed plain and simple. Such a shame. I like this team but they just can’t catch a break.

    • CDR says:

We agree Jeremy! It’s a difficult time right now for Minnesota. Just when things were turning up, it quickly went back down.

  2. Not exactly how a rejuvenated franchise wanted to start off their season with their best player being away from the court for at least two months.

    • CDR says:

You got that right Alan. It’s not a good sign for the T-Wolves, heck… it’s not a good sign for fantasy owners either!

  3. Sucks, man.

I think Kevin Love is the kind of player that’s grown on a lot of fans. He’s definitely grown on me, that’s for sure.

I’m hoping this T’Wolves team with, as you suggest, he and Rubio, isn’t one we’re going to never get to see play at full strength.

    • CDR says:

Kevin Love has grown on us as well, especially playing fantasy basketball. The guy is a monster and now he shoots from the three-point line? Just nasty. Despite his injury, we would still recommend on drafting him on fantasy leagues because he’s worth it.

  4. J-Dub says:

Despite where they are now, I think the Wolves are moving in the right direction. Three years from now, this will be a playoff team.

    • CDR says:

You have a point there JW. They certainly have the pieces to make it work. It’s going to take some time, but it’s possible.
