Lillard’s Living The Life

If you’ve been following the NBA lately, you’d know that there are four rookies that are going above and beyond for their teams and are playing like they belong in the league.

These players are as follows:

PG Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers
F/C Anthony Davis – New Orleans Hornets
PG/SG Dion Waiters – Cleveland Cavaliers
SG Bradley Beal – Washington Wizards

All four rookies were drafted in the Top 10 and each player not only has a major role, but has also started for their teams this season. Judging from what each player has already done this year, skies the limit in terms of their abilities in the future.

Speaking of abilities, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard is as talented as any rookie to come out of any draft. No disrespect to the number one pick this past off-season in Anthony Davis, who himself is battling Lillard for this year’s “Rookie of the Year” award, but if you had chances to watch the Portland Trail Blazers, you’d agree that Damian Lillard is the next coming of another “Chris Paul.”

Lillard, this year’s #6 draft pick, exploded onto the scene by demolishing the Las Vegas Summer League with 26.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 32.8 minutes per game. With Lillard, it’s only a matter of time when he impacts the NBA in dramatic fashion.

Six games into the season, Damian Lillard already has an average of 18.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game. The rookie has played like a calm and collected veteran so far posting only a 3.2 turnover ratio in the season. NBA All-stars, such as James Harden (5.0), Kevin Durant (4.8) and even Kobe Bryant (4.3) have a higher turnover average that Damian Lillard.

Not only is Lillard enjoying the positives of the NBA, he’s also ecstatic about being able to have the opportunity to sign with Adidas heading into his rookie year. Lillard joins NBA stars, such as Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, and Josh Smith as the 50th NBA player to sign with Adidas.

If you ever wondered how it felt to live the life of a rookie NBA star, ask Damian Lillard… he’ll tell you everything you need to know.

  1. Jeremy Wiebe says:

Little early but he is playing well. Portland will be a very good team in a couple of years.

    • CDR says:

It’s definitely early Jeremy, you’re right but the Blazers must be 100% excited to know what they have in Lillard. Similar to Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard is going to get better too. Just like you said, Portland will be buzzing in a few more years.

  2. If Lillard carries on as he has been doing, he will end up being the NBA Rookie of the Year.

    Tophatal ………….

    • CDR says:

We’re with you on that Alan. We love the way Anthony Davis has been playing despite being a little hurt early in the season, but Lillard is the real deal. If Lillard keeps it up, Davis might just have to take the award away from him.

  3. Three people took Lillard in my NBA Pool to win rookie of the year.

I haven’t seen the kid play yet but I’m looking forward to it.
