49ers QB Colin Kaepernick Has A 100-Pound Pet Turtle (Photos)

We’re slowly getting to know the young, blazing quarterback from the San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick. It’s not often that you hear a famous athlete nowadays owning a pet turtle, better yet a 100-pound tortoise.

That’s right, for some of you who might’ve thought Kaepernick’s best friend was 49ers’ ex-starter Alex Smith, you’re wrong. Okay, Alex Smith was never Colin Kaepernick’s best friend, but we figured to give Alex some limelight. After all, the guy just lost his job forever. Anyway, that’s an entirely different agenda.

So back to the turtle, his name is Sammy and this humongous tortoise has been in Colin Kaepernick’s life since childhood. Crazy huh?

    It’s a tortoise, not a turtle. You use both interchangeably. Grr!
