LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat might have the best record in the NBA Eastern Conference (26-12), but the team is far from being comfortable in terms of the franchise’s current roster.
Today, the Heat had rolled the dice on former Nuggets’ power forward/center Chris Andersen (amnestied by Denver in 2012) by signing the “Birdman” to a 10-day contract.
Chris Andersen three years ago was considered a prolific rebounder, an average shot blocker, and a great all-around defensive big man. The “Birdman” always provided a spark off the bench with his tumultuous energy and it’s a trait that the Miami Heat definitely need this year.
Andersen has already worked out with the team and is scheduled to make his debut in Miami on Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors. If all goes well, the “Birdman” could be nesting in South Beach for the rest of this season.

It’s also rumored that the Heat were prepared to sign Greg Oden ? Anderson would be a good fit for the Heat but all of this comes down to Pat Riley and what he views as best for the team .
Chris Andersen has the ability to be one of those players on the Heat bench that could really impact the outcome of the playoffs. You can never have too many big men.
Riley’s got the pulse of this team down pat. He’s become the master of filling in roster slots as needed for minimum cost.
If Birdman can make his presence felt, if even at all, perhaps provide a boost or a few key minutes, then it was all well worth it.
I see him doing more good than harm.
We agree as well Chris. The “Birdman” is someone that’s active on the boards and a player that could really energize both the team and the fans. Solid move by Riley.
