The Miami Heat had won their second consecutive NBA Championship with a Game 7 win over the San Antonio Spurs. The Heat took the title with the score of 95-88 and multi-platinum rapper Drake was in the stands. Drake may be one of the most famous rappers in the world and with that kind of celebrity comes entitlement, but it was all about the Miami Heat players. After Game 7 was over, Drake was barred from entering the locker room to take part in the post-game celebrations.

When Drake tried to enter the Heat locker room and congratulate his team, it never crossed his mind that he would be stopped from entering the room of the champions of two years in a row. Drake was left stranded outside while the media took full advantage of being invited in to join the madness. Drake may have had great court-side seats, but it seemed that there was a limit on his celebrity status. On the night Miami had won the championship, the Heat team members and coaches were the biggest celebrities inside the arena.
Attending NBA games seems to be a regular pastime for many celebrities and often the front rows are packed with everyone from David Beckham to Justin Bieber and Rihanna. The cameras seem to spend more time focused on them than on the game. Drake shun at the NBA Finals was a turn for the books and it showed that for once, being a celebrity couldn’t get you an all-access pass.
In the end, Drake still won out, as hours after he was barred from the locker room celebrations, he was seen dancing on stage with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James celebrating the Heat’s win at STORY Nightclub in South Beach, Miami.
