Surprisingly, the league has now forbidden NFL players from wearing unique-styled facemasks.
According to the NFL, any type that would be considered a “non-standard customized face mask” worn by players will not be allowed. The only time the league would consider granting permission to wear these types of helmets is if the player has a medical reason.
NFL athletes, such as Giants’ defensive end Justin Tuck and Ravens’ defensive end Chris Canty have already submitted their request for medical clearance due to past injuries.
The NFL is serious about this new rule and has already begun cracking down on players.
On Twitter, Indianapolis Colts’ defensive end Robert Mathis had tweeted that he is no longer able to wear his multiple-bar facemask grill.
There go the super-cool facemasks that everyone loved.
