With the NBA trade deadline looming at February 20, 2014, teams have been working diligently for weeks trying to land a valuable player to add to their rosters.
The New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers are not wasting any time. Per ESPN, an internal discussion between both organizations had already started examining a possible sign and trade with All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and high-flying forward Blake Griffin.
While the trade is very much possible, the latest news in Los Angeles is that the Clippers have been hesitant to proceed in continuing trade talks with the Knicks. Blake Griffin has been having a great season with the Clippers and his chemistry with the team is undeniable.
The fact that New York is exploring the possibility of trading Carmelo Anthony might rub the Knicks’ captain the wrong way. However, it would not be right to blame New York because if Anthony were to sign with a different team, the Knicks would not receive much in return for “Melo’s” departure. Fans could compare this scenario to the same situation Dwight Howard had with the Orlando Magic.
The Knicks are still adamant about trying to re-sign Anthony to a max contract, but with all these “trade talks,” “Melo” might just give up on the Knicks when all is said and done.
